About Us

We have recently gone through a robust quality assurance process with

Torbay Local Authority and will be operational from January 1st 2024!

What is Regroup Education?

An alternative education and intervention provision based in Torbay as a quality

option to full time mainstream provisions and caters for those who need something

more bespoke. Our offer can be utilised alongside local authorities, schools,

academies and other providers to ensure that there is a holistic approach to

supporting pupils' needs across Devon and Torbay.

We give alternative education opportunities for pupils:

  • at risk of permanent exclusion

  • on part time timetables and would benefit from a blended learning approach

  • who require alternative provision intervention from secondary academies / schools

  • who have been permanently excluded from secondary academies / schools

  • currently requiring an EOTAS package

  • with SEND

We aim to provide opportunities to work towards the academic qualifications necessary to open doors for  pupils to positively and successfully re-engage with education. This could be to access mainstream, other appropriate school, or post 16 provision.

Who is the provision for and when?

Pupils (secondary, 11-16) come to us at various points throughout their education, usually as a result of their school placement having broken down for one of any number of individual reasons. Our aim is to work closely with local authorities, secondary schools and other provisions to provide support to some of the most vulnerable pupils and enable them to successfully reintegrate back into education or on to the next part of their educational journey. For learners in the last four terms of compulsory education, we help prepare them to step into the world of post 16 education, apprenticeships or work placements.

Why will young people be successful at Regroup?

Our vision is to significantly change pupils’ lives for the better. We are committed to raising aspirations for all pupil’s social, emotional and academic outcomes and our holistic curriculum reflects our intention and approach to meet individual needs, enabling young people to experience success and progress towards their true potential. We support our pupils to develop a range of personal, interpersonal and academic knowledge, skills and understanding to help them in their development into confident, happy, successful young adults who can thrive in our modern society.

Where is it?

We work out of the Acorn Community Centre in Torquay. Our facilities include:

  • 2 Classrooms

  • Breakout & social spaces

  • Multi Use Games Area (MUGA)

  • Sports Fields

  • Access to a Sports Hall

Being a part of the community here is really important to us. Delivering our provision from the heart of this hub is something we feel proud to be a part of and we want to continue to add value to what the community centre offers the local children and families.

What will pupils be taught?

We support the pupils in their understanding of barriers to learning alongside building proactive and reactive strategies that could be used to successfully reintegrate them into their original or appropriate provisions.

Academic development comes through the teaching of Functional English and Maths lessons; employability skills, PSHE, with a strong focus on developing learning behaviours with the pupils understanding more about themselves. We also offer vocational opportunities in the form of AQA unit awards which will also be used to reward unit work in core subjects. Pupils will be taught in small groups and mentoring can be available on a 1:1 basis.
